Hi All,
Of late I have been noticing that I get angry a lot ,at office and at home, but specially at office.
It doesn't really matter whose "fault" it is.When I get angry, the person most harmed is me. So I decided to surf the net to find anger management advice....and also ways deal with annoying situations without getting angry. Thats how I came across this beautiful article by Dr.Annette Colby.
Dr. Colby says we need to first accept anger. Most of us have been conditioned since childhood to believe that getting angry is a bad thing. Therefore we end up either supressing the anger or lashing out at someone and then feeling guilty about it. But according to Dr. Colby ,you are not a bad person because are angry.Getting angry is natural. And it is just a passing phase everybody goes through.
She suggests "Personalizing" the anger. You are not the anger, treat it like a separate entity. Accept its presence and thank it for trying to protect you .She says that the gratitude will melt away a lot of the anger and I agree with her. Give love to it and understand that it tried to protect you because you felt threatened in some way. Heal it with Love.
